When his son was killed he resorted to his Indian heritage to seek justice. He would destroy the very foundation of America that had wronged him. He would make them all pay for allowing murderers to be set free.
He would set the entire American continent back to the Stone Age. He would die in doing so. Like his ancestors of long ago he would die in fighting the system. But sometimes a man has to fight.

Spell-binding story of a misfit
By lacy criscoe
Indian Giver is the spell-binding story of a misfit who finds a place to belong and something to believe in, until fate repeatedly rails against him leading to his tormented spiral into madness.
The main character becomes dear to us very quickly as a young child who loses his mother. He and his father struggle daily just to eat and survive but through their hardships they gain a closeness that is richer than gold. We sympathize with the Indian boy as he endures prejudiced, sneering teachers and gangs of bullies but we are encouraged by the fact that they are unable to break his spirit.
As the boy becomes a man, he joins the army to make a life for himself and to better the life of his father. But, he finds that he has something to prove to himself...that he is the best. So he pursues the coveted green beret of Special Forces soldiers.
Canter's real-life experience with Special Forces offers unique insights and knowledge that he masterfully imparts to his main characters giving them a surprising depth. He captures the playfulness and camaraderie of the brotherhood of army soldiers as well as their dedication and loyalty to each other. He lets us experience the intense, physically-draining but mind-satisfying training of the SF soldier as he gains confidence and pride in his ability to defy being culled out of the training program. Finally, we gain a well-earned respect for the steely determination and extreme focus of the elite soldier as he graduates this challenging training program.
Even though the story revolves around Special Forces, it isn't about that. Nor is it about the army...or even about Indians. It is about family. Not just nuclear family, but army family and the family of friends that give meaning and enthusiasm to our lives. It's about our love for each other and our belief in the goodness of mankind...and what happens when all of that is shattered!
Best book I've read in a really long time.

For the avid reader that loves a compelling read.
By C. Evans
I am an avid reader. I love when I am pulled into the story and feel as though you are the shadow following the character. Seeing what they see, feeling their pain and agony, their joy and happiness. I experienced myriad of emotions, all bringing me back to the realization, I am blessed.
There are roads less travelled in ones life, following this one, will lead you to your own destination.

totally awesome book
By Peggy Getz
Absolutely loved it but was very glad no one was around me when I was reading it as they would have thought I was crazy. Tom had me laughing one minute, crying the next and yelling at the story line the next. Being a military spouse, many of the areas were familiar and he brought them to live again from the back of the memory banks and being part Cherokee as well was just another link. The use of third person was intriguing. Have recommended to all my friends and it is being added to our military installation's library. They hope to have Tom come for a book signing later this year. Awaiting his next book.
